So, the first week of the first month of the painting challenge has come and gone and what did I accomplish? Quite a bit actually!
I now have my first five Galadhrim Warriors finished. Only 5 you say? Well, I got distracted by the call of Moria… I got a bunch of goblins from a friend and painted a test model just for fun and liked the result enough to start a Moria army as well! I doubt I’ll have the patience to paint a full army of the little buggers, so my first goal is to paint a warband for Battle Companies. That’s around 20 goblins, a few special units and the cherry on top: a cave troll! I already have around ten goblins basecoated and washed, just waiting for some highlights. They should be done in about a week.

I’m finding out that I’m getting more and more easily bored by batch painting, so my current plan is to paint 1-3 Galadhrim and Goblins at the same time, this way I should have a full warband’s worth of them both by the end of September. Fingers crossed!
As you can see, I also painted some scenery to go with home games. They’re meant for AoS but I think they work pretty nicely in a LoTR setting as well with this colour scheme.

Last but not least, I did start reading the Lord of the Rings books as well! So far I’m 160 pages into the first one and I’m loving it. Hasn’t aged at all so far. My only complaint is that I can’t stop seeing and hearing the movies in head. I guess Frodo will be Elijah Wood forever in my mind. And yes, I do plan to watch the movies after the books. I kinda want to watch them right now but I fear that’d ruin my reading experience.
